You see that leg?  It wasn’t always visible.  This dress didn’t look like this at all actually. To be honest, originally it resembled a muumuu (pronounced moomoo – that oversized gown looking thing that some women wear around the house, usually a floral print; kind of like a gown) but I found a way to make it a little more flattering. Well actually a lot more…

Even though probably the most casual, I think I was most excited to wear this dress.  About a week before the trip, I had found a photo of Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily on Instagram in this gorgeous high split printed dress and immediately fell in love with it. I knew I didn’t have time to order it and to me express shipping just isn’t that important for an extra $20.  So with me being as frugal as I am, I ended up at one of my favorite Goodwill location and hoped for the best.

I know most times that I thrift, I stumble across a good bit of dresses that are dope one-of-a-kind prints but almost every time, the style sucks, or it’s beyond too big.  I also know that when you’re not looking for something, they are in abundance. But when you are, they are nowhere to be found.  I walked in on faith and hoped I could find what I needed in one trip…and I did!  I didn’t even try it on because I knew size didn’t matter this time so when I got home I was ready to get to work.  I slipped in on and added about 3 different belts before I got to this one but something was still missing.  It needed some leg.  I added the thigh high split in one cut and it was perfect.  Now for the accessories….

Originally, I wanted a gold choker.  I have one but it just wasn’t the kind I pictured.  As you can see though, the choker idea went down the drain.  With the look being very flowy and boho chic, I wanted to add a lot of embellishment to dress it up.  I ended up with a Y necklace and rings all from Charlotte Russe, the smaller cuff from Wal Mart, and my fave cuff from Megan B. Neckpeace (IG @meganb_neckpeace).  The dripping gold look came together quite nicely if I do say so myself.

With all that being said, I think this look came together pretty darn well.  I grabbed my fave go-to neutral bag and lace up heels from JustFab and was all set for the first part of day 2 in The Big Apple.  Even though summer was coming to an end, it was still hitting the low 90s so this look was perfect for an easy going Saturday. I wish I could say the same for part 2 of the day but that’s another story for another post…
